AltReleaf: Bridging the Gap for Transitioning Patients

AltReleaf is a company that specialises in plant-based medicine helping patients with chronic conditions who do not get relief with standard therapy.
AltReleaf sought to establish a brand identity that resonated with transitioning patients entering the regulated medical cannabis market.
This case study explores the process of developing a visually appealing yet medically appropriate brand identity, including logo design and packaging, that conveys value and fosters trust.
Understanding the Client's Brief
To embark on the design journey, we carefully analyzed AltReleaf's brief. The challenge was to create a brand that bridged the gap between the unregulated market and the legal medical cannabis segment. The target audience was transitioning patients seeking alternative relief for chronic conditions. Our objective was to develop a brand that conveyed professionalism, trustworthiness, and a commitment to medical efficacy.
Concept Development
and Logo Design
We brainstormed a range of concepts that encompassed the desired attributes of the AltReleaf brand. We focused on combining elements of nature, healing, and sophistication to strike the perfect balance between medical credibility and visual appeal.
The logo design process began with sketching and conceptualising various ideas that aligned with AltReleaf's vision. After several iterations, we refined a selection of promising concepts.
Branding Identity
AltReleaf serves as the primary brand that oversees the production and distribution of a diverse range of strains and product varieties. Within the AltReleaf brand, there are various subsets, each offering distinct combinations of THC and CBD levels.
This approach allows AltReleaf to address the unique requirements of each patient and provide them with a comprehensive selection of products to choose from, all under the trusted AltReleaf brand umbrella.
To ensure consistency and a cohesive visual identity, I developed a comprehensive branding system that encompassed typography, colour palette, and supporting graphic elements.
Packaging Design
Recognising the crucial role packaging plays in conveying quality and trust, we approached the design with meticulous attention to detail.
The packaging had to be visually striking while adhering to medical regulations and imparting a sense of value. We integrated the logo seamlessly into the packaging design, utilizing a combination of bold typography, eye-catching colours, and informative content to provide patients with essential information and a sense of reassurance.
